Recession?


Apparently, a majority of U.S. states are now officially in a recession:

I'm not sure what to make of this--usually, when the mainstream press starts calling a recession, we're in its middle or late stages, not the beginning.

MA surprises me, re: "expansion".
Can't be that way for much long, with a state deficit is $1.4 billion (reserve spending planned for this year). In an attempt to curb this, layoffs happened last week state wide, including in the not for profit sector, with key services being cut.
