Let's play a game. The picture above includes most of San Jose's political heavy hitters. Who is the only person in the picture who doesn't seem like he belongs?

Look at the heavyset, short male third from the right. Yes, it's the guy dressed in jeans standing between Sam Liccardo and Pierluigi Oliverio--none other than San Jose City Councilmember Pete Constant (District 1). I've written before about Pete Constant. See HERE for more information on him.

I'm not saying Pete Constant is the least intelligent person on the City Council; however, did he appear not to understand one of the most important agenda items last year? (At least Pierluigi Oliverio came up with a somewhat plausible explanation for his vote, i.e., that he believed more transparency would increase requests for public information and therefore cost San Jose taxpayers more money. Mr. Constant, on the other hand, led me on a meandering conversation that can be summed up as follows: I did it because the D.A. and cops told me to vote that way.)
